Amounts keep two decimals (cents); extra digits are truncated. Number words follow American style (no “AND” between hundreds and tens). “ONLY” is the customary closing word on a cheque to prevent tampering.
About amount in words
When writing an English cheque or invoice, the amount is usually spelled out in words as well as figures to prevent alteration. This tool offers two common formats: plain number words (e.g. ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-FOUR) and an amount line (… DOLLARS AND FIFTY-SIX CENTS ONLY).
The amount line writes the dollar amount in words and the remainder as CENTS, ending with “ONLY” to stop extra figures being added. All conversion runs in your browser; the values you enter are never uploaded or stored on a server.
